The Acropolis area needs no introduction. The Parthenon

The Holy Rock of the Acropolis, a symbol of Athens since the Golden Age of Pericles, dominates the center of the modern city and is visible from its every corner. At its top is the Parthenon, a masterpiece of classical architecture, visited by millions of tourists every year. On the slopes of the rock, one finds the “secret” caves of Ancient Athens, but also monuments of various eras, the most famous being the Ancient Theater of Dionysus and the impressive Odeon of Herodes Atticus, which are proof that in every time and for every conqueror the Acropolis was – and not without reason – the most important point of the city. And it remains to this day.

The Acropolis Museum

In the Acropolis Museum, one of the greatest and most popular museums worlwide, many of the masterpieces directly connected to the sacred rock of the Acropolis are exhibited, such as the Caryatids and the sculptural decoration of the Parthenon. The impressive modern architecture of the Museum may not steal the limelight from the imposing rock of the Acropolis (how could it?), however it makes it a new landmark of the area, contributing to the unparalleled aesthetics of the most popular neighborhood of Athens.

The walk along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street

Perhaps the most beautiful promenade in Athens, Dionysiou Areopagitou Street is located literally in the shadow of the Acropolis and is the favorite spot of the locals for their daily walk. Along the street, which runs alongside the Acropolis, street vendors sell roasted nuts and small souvenirs for tourists, while street musicians fill various corners of the sidewalk with music, offering passers-by little concerts of every genre of music, rom traditional to classic.

The concerts at Odeon of Herodus Atticus

The famous Odeon of Herodes Atticus is one of the best-preserved conservatories in the world and, by all accounts, one of the most impressive monuments in Athens. Built during the Roman era, it has a capacity of around 5,000 spectators and to this day it hosts various cultural events every summer, by Greek and international artists.
